Our Little Graduate

We have a graduate on our hands – watch out world! As we were leaving puppy kindergarten last night Ryan said “I hope she finds a job soon and brings in the big bucks.” Smile

We have been going to puppy training once a week for 6 weeks now at Petsmart. Its been great for us to have someone to talk to on a weekly basis with behavioral issues or if we have other questions about Reese. We have learned a lot and I would highly recommend it for other new puppy parents.

Tonight was the final class and before the ‘party started’ our trainer set up an obstacle course for us to go through. At each cone we had to work on a different command such as sit, stay, down, and loose leash walk while zig zagging through a series of cones. Ryan went first with Reese and there was one part of the course where a treat was on the ground and Ryan had to walk her past it without Reese trying to get the treat, AKA “Leave It”. Well… Reese got that treat all right and ate a bit of it before “leaving part of it”. It was funny to watch!

I also ended up going through the course with her, second time is a charm for Miss Reese. When we got to the half eaten treat on the ground she “left it” but I’m pretty sure she was distracted by the other puppies in the class at this point.

We celebrated with diplomas, pictures, and ice cream. Reese could not get enough of the ice cream – she LOVED it! The pictures with the graduation cap, not so much..

There were two other dogs in the class, Skippy and Richu. Skippy was an older dog and it was interesting to see the kids (there were 4 of them) train the dog. We are grown adults and had a hard enough time.

Hope we can keep the good behavior up!

Have a great weekend!

Roll Tide–National Champions!

Our memorial day weekend started on Thursday night. We dropped the pup off at the vet for boarding and hit the road for Hopkinsville, KY to stay with our friends Zack and Andrea. Ryan’s Dad’s golf team was playing for the national championship in Nashville, TN on Friday and we wanted to get a head start on the drive.

We got in late to Zack and Andrea’s and got up early to drive the rest of the way to Nashville so that we could visit with Ryan’s parents before the round started. The girls had a 2 shot lead going into the final round over Southern California and boy are we glad we made the 6 hour trip to Nashville to see this finish! I knew I would be nervous the entire day but thankfully we had some great friends come out and show their support and my parents even made the long trip too! Always good to see them Smile

We got to the hotel and hung out with Mic and Kim for a while before following the team to the course – ROLL TIDE – Let’s do this!!

Speaking of friends and family, Zack and Andrea made the trip later in the day with their 5 month old son Jack – we hadn’t seem him since he was a week old! He was all smiles and was SOO good on the golf course – it was a hot day and he just hung out in his stroller and was Alabama’s youngest fan that day.

It was good to see Ryan’s brother Corey and his girlfriend Amanda and one of Ryan’s other groomsmen came to show his support too – Big Mike!

The boy’s all together.

Back to the tournament…

Before I dive into the details let me first say that Mic has never won a National Championship. He is a hall of fame coach and has had numerous collegiate wins but has never won the BIG ONE. Alabama women’s golf has never won a NCAA championship either so this had the potential to be a HUGE day for Mic and the women’s golf program at Alabama. As a previous Alabama golfer I have been pulling for this team since the day I graduated and it has been so fun to watch how the program has grown and become a national championship contender for the past couple of years – I’m a proud Bama girl!

So throughout the entire day Alabama and Southern Cal went back and forth at the top of the leaderboard. It literally came down to the last hole… When our number one player, Brooke Pancake made a par to win by one shot over Southern Cal the crowd went crazy and we could officially call them the National Champions!

Check out that trophy!
